2001 Food Show - Escape to Paradise Food Expo!
The 2001 Escape to Paradise Food Expo, Monterrey Provision’s “coming out” party for the 21st century, was held at the Scottish Rite Center in the Mission Valley area of San Diego for ten exciting hours (10:00 am – 8:00 pm). Our Expo was the only show in Southern California to focus exclusively on Delis. Our customers traveled from all over the region to discover and purchase products that they could use while having a great time.
When customers arrived they walked into an authentic Caribbean party complete with palm trees and a live steel drum band—oh, and lots and lots of tasty food to sample. Vendors and Monterrey Provision employees were dressed in bright tropical shirts—the atmosphere was loose and free, just like the savings.
Deli operators had the opportunity to see, taste and learn about new and old products, alike. Ideas were exchanged on how to increase profits! The mood in the room was “electric” as customers took advantage of pricing allowances on new and current products—savings were abound for as far as the eye could see.
All customers in attendance were entered into our raffle for great prizes—drawings took place every 30 minutes. The grand prize, however, generated the most excitement. At 8:00 PM, a large crowd gathered as the name of one lucky deli operator was called as the winner of a 7-day cruise through the Caribbean leaving from Miami, Florida. For the throngs who did not win the grand prize, it was ok, because they had already “been there and done that” at the Monterrey Provision Escape to Paradise Food Expo!
